Tony Gonzalez took part in Fridays practice and is expected to start and play against the Chiefs come Sunday.

Asked by KCFX-FMs Bob Gretz how his star tight end, who is listed as questionable this week with a sore ankle, was doing today, Vermeil said: "Hes a little gimpy but I think hell be ready."

When Gretz suggested that Gonzalez always seems to find a way to get himself back on the field -- despite injuries -- once game day rolls around, the coach agreed.

"He has a great ability to recover quickly," Vermeil said. "And the number one reason is he just loves the game so much."

Before anybody gets too excited, however, Ill remind you that it remains to be seen what kind of role Gonzalez will actually play this weekend.

Playing with knee and ankle sprains sustained in the season opener, Ferguson took part in the entire practice and said he was able to run full speed. He is still listed as questionable on the teams injury report however and head coach Mike Sherman characterized Ferguson as a "Dreaded Game-Time Decision."

"Well see how he recovers," Sherman said. "Im not going to speculate until I see how he handles [Saturday] and [Sunday]."

With Donald Driver already ruled out with a sprained neck, the Packers would be without both of their starting receivers from Week 1 if Ferguson cant play.

Earlier in the week, the third-year receiver was walking with the assistance of crutches. Friday, he was much improved.

"Little sore, little tender, but other than that pretty good," Ferguson said.
