Hakim is officially listed as questionable for Sundays game on the injury report.

Last season, Hakim scored two touchdowns against the Packers. On Sept. 22, he took a hand-off from Eddie Drummond on a punt return and ran it 72-yards for a touchdown to give Detroit a 7-0 lead. Several weeks later on Nov. 10, Hakim broke free from his defender for a 64-yard touchdown reception on the first offensive play of the game.

The Lions know they will not win too many games when their leading rusher gains only 44 yards of terrain. That is what Detroit got out of Olandis Gary in the season opening win.

With three tailbacks -- Gary, Shawn Bryson and Avon Cobourne -- still fighting for playing time, Mariucci said he thinks the Lions have a better idea of when to insert each of them based on the situation.

"Its starting to sort out some," Mariucci said. "Were not going to talk about how were going to play those guys but were practicing them a certain way. Theyre all getting some snaps and theyre all learning but were making some progress. What we need is practice time and playing time. That happens over time."

In an article published Wednesday, Pro Football Weekly suggested when they signed Bryson as a free agent, team officials saw him as a pure backup because his speed was an ideal complement to the plodding James Stewart.

With Stewart out for the year, the Lions remain uncertain whether Bryson is capable of playing a featured role, triggering the trade for Gary.

But as SportsLine.com insider Pete Prisco wrote Thursday: "On draft day, the Lions traded running back Aveion Cason to the Cowboys for a seventh-round pick. They used that pick to take a fullback named Brandon Drumm, who they cut.

"Meanwhile, Cason ripped off a 63-yard touchdown run for the Cowboys and appears ready to be a major part of Bill Parcells offense this season.
