According to Chargers.com staffer David Neville, tight end Stephen Alexander was upgraded from questionable to probable. Alexander missed last weeks game at Kansas City after sitting out most of the preseason with a nagging groin injury.

"It feels great," said Alexander after Thursdays practice. "It was feeling pretty good last week, but we were trying to be smart about it and we waited one more week. It feels great now and Im raring to go."

After joining the Chargers as an unrestricted free agent from Washington in 2002, Alexander tied a career-high with 510 receiving yards on 45 catches in his first season in San Diego. The Chargers are hoping Alexander can return to the form he exhibited in the final game of last season when he caught eight passes for 129 yards and one touchdown against Seattle on Dec. 29.

"Its been a long time," said Alexander. "I missed all of camp and only practiced about six days. I was never really able to put a string of practices together. Im glad to finally be able to go out, run around full speed and not have to worry about anything."

"Alexander has gone two full days in a row and feels very good," said Schottenheimer. Gonzalez, who missed practice time with a sore knee last week, is listed as questionable this week due to a sore ankle.

Asked specifically if Gonzalez would play this weekend, Vermeil replied:
