The Rocky Mountain News also reported that the NFL has fined the Broncos $25,000 for showing up with the wrong colored uniforms for their September 14 game at San Diego.

Asked specifically how Holmes looked during a post-practice press conference, the coach replied: "Fine. We only had him do limited reps. I expect him to be ready to play. I think he expects to be ready."

Pressed to explain exactly how limited, the coach said: "Very limited, but Friday is a lighter day for us. Situation football; we are not in pads, we are in shells. The first part of practice he did fine.

"I went by him at one time in the middle of practice and asked him how he was doing and he said ok. Then we just backed off. No sense in irritating him. Right now we are planning on him being ready to go."

While Holmes current problem isnt directly related to the injury that sidelined him late last year, its obviously somewhat worrisome.

"I think thats an alert," Vermeil admitted. "The hip flexor muscle is right here and that was acting up on him. Not the hip joint or anything like that. I think probably the truth of the matter is that that area is not up to what it was a year ago at the same time and hes doing almost the same amount of work. So, we temper it a little."

Asked if Holmes will limited at all this Sunday when compared to the touches he got the last two to three weeks, Vermeil said: "I cant tell you right now. I dont think so. I think
