Ferguson dismissed the idea of resting for a week to heal.

"Do you really want to tell me I cant play?" Ferguson said. "Its hurting, but if I can play and Im not hurting the team, Im going to play. And, Im not hurting the team."

Tight end Wesley Walls was held out of practice Wednesday and worked on sprints with the training staff. He practiced Thursday and was hopeful of playing against Chicago.

"Its 100 percent," Walls said. "But last week, every time I ran, it felt like it was going to snap. It doesnt feel like that anymore. The extra day certainly helps." ','9/26/2003','10:20:00 AM','Friday'0,2003,182 5755,31,4,'Flemister Could Return To Action...','According to Washington Post beat man Mark Maske, tight end Zeron Flemister likely will return to the Washington Redskins lineup this weekend, head coach Steve Spurrier said after yesterdays practice.

Flemister missed the last two games after straining his Achilles tendon in the season opener. Robert Royal took over and the Redskins elevated rookie Kevin Ware from the five-man practice squad the last two Fridays to serve as his backup.

Ware probably would remain on the practice squad this week if Flemister is able to play on Sunday against the New England Patriots.

"Zeron was running around pretty well, Spurrier said after Thursdays practice. "Theres a good chance hell be back in uniform.

Its worth noting that Flemister is likely to continue sharing time with Royal.

And as Maske noted this morning, Spurriers tendency to split time at other positions will continue, too.

Trung Canidate and Ladell Betts split carries at tailback; Bryan Johnson and Rock Cartwright share the fullback duties; and coaches envision working rookie Taylor Jacobs into the mix at wide receiver,
