"Things are happening and just that one game doesnt mean, Hey, look at me, Im here," Plummer said Wednesday. "Im going to do it every week."

It didnt start off that way.

Plummer looked like an anxious rookie in the opener against Cincinnati, then sat out the second half because of injury the following week against San Diego.

But against the Raiders, he was the player the Broncos had hoped for when they signed him in the offseason. He made good decisions, hit receivers in stride and looked a lot like Elway with his scrambling and throws on the run.

"Theres going to be a lot of pressure in his role," head coach Mike Shanahan said. "You never know how a guy is going to respond, especially when the adversity starts. I just like the way he handles himself and I think hes going to get better and better."

Thats what the Broncos were hoping for after Plummer struggled early in the year.

He was booed after an interception against Indianapolis in his first home preseason game, but everyone shrugged it off because it didnt really count.

The grace period ended a week later against the Bengals when Plummer threw three interceptions compiled a rather unflattering quarterback rating of 21.7.

It was the same problem that plagued Plummer in six years with Arizona, leading some in Denver to declare his signing a $40 million mistake.

"As far as the doubters go, I really didnt care much about that," Plummer said. "I knew that things were going to happen right. I was going to do things very well and this offense was going to work."

There were signs of it in the second week against San Diego.

Plummer was wild on some of his first few throws, but he settled down to throw three touchdowns in Denvers second straight rout. He missed the second half against the Chargers after separating his shoulder, but picked up were he left off against Raiders.
