As noted in a previous Update, David Boston has been suspended by the club and will not play against Oakland. Reche Caldwell is out with a wrist injury, and if Dwight is unable to go, the Chargers four healthy wide receivers will be Eric Parker, Kassim Osgood, Grant Mattos and Dondre Gilliam.
Parker has the most experience in the group. He has 11 catches for a team-high 142 yards and two touchdowns so far this season. The other three receivers have one catch between them, which belongs to Osgood, who caught an 18-yard pass last Sunday against Baltimore.
According to the Sporting News, Osgood is the most likely candidate to start opposite Parker if Dwight cant play.
And in a semi-related note. ...
FOX Sports insider John Czarnecki suggested that of Bostons recent litany of transgressions, the most serious was a clash with strength coach Dave Redding on Wednesday.
According to sources, Redding handed Boston a fine for failing to work out in the training room. Boston reportedly crumpled up the paper and tossed it into Reddings face. A war of words between the two men followed this incident. Redding supposedly followed Boston into the parking lot.
Redding has spent much of his NFL career working under Schottenheimer in both Cleveland and Kansas City.
