No, the reporter said.
"Well, then, why are you asking me about it?"
To get Gannons response, the reporter responded, adding it seemed too early to be talking about such a matter.
"Well, then, dont ask me about it," Gannon said. "If you think its early? In other words, another week? Give me another week?"
No, the reporter said, adding: "Youre the MVP. And we shouldnt be talking about it at all."
Gannons response? "Well, then, lets not talk about it. Because thats how I feel, you understand? Im out playing my (butt) off. Thats how I feel. All right?"
In answering another question, Gannon defended his play, even after his slow start.
"I have no problem with my play, I really dont," he said. "And you can print that. I have no problem with the way Ive performed the first three games. None whatsoever. So, if you want to make that an issue, if you want to make that a story, go right ahead. Thats not a problem for me at all. Im just telling you where Im at with it. I know the facts. And unfortunately no one in (the media) does. And thats fine. But I do. I understand the facts as they are. ..."

Charlie Garner, who was noticeably slowed after taking a shot in the ribs Monday night, practiced as usual Wednesday.','9/25/2003','2:00:00 PM','Thursday'0,2003,167 5740,14,4,'Brunell Watches While Leftwich Runs Offense Thursday...','As reported by Jaguars Inside Report senior editor Vic Ketchman, rookie Byron Leftwich appears to be heading for his first NFL start after taking a majority of the snaps in Thursdays practice. David Garrard also got in a handful of reps while veteran starter Mark Brunell watched from the sideline with his injured left elbow heavily bandaged.
Asked following practice if his wounded elbow, which required stitches following a first-half mishap in Indianapolis that caused the bone to push through the skin, had improved, Brunell said: "Absolutely, a lot better." He then scurried away.
