While with the Cardinals, Boston pleaded no contest to a charge of driving under the influence of drugs. Police said he tested positive for cocaine and marijuana.
Schottenheimer expects Boston to play Sunday in Oakland.
But to do so, Boston needs to practice Thursday or Friday, which is one of Schottenheimers many rules. Boston didnt play in the home opener because of his bruised heel, after not practicing in the week leading up to the game.
"He would certainly have to be a part of one of those days," Schottenheimer said.

Tomlinson rested for the majority of Wednesdays practice while recovering from soreness from last weeks game. Tomlinson said after the workout that he expects to return to practice on Thursday.
According to Schottenheimer, neither Stephen Alexander (groin) nor Tim Dwight (knee) practiced Wednesday. Both men are listed as questionable on this weeks injury report.
Dwights injury is of particular concern.
With Caldwell already sidelined by his injured wrist, the Chargers dont have a lot of experience at wide receiver.
Boston and Eric Parker are the only veteran receivers on the roster, with Parker in just his second year. Kassim Osgood and Grant Mattos both joined the team as undrafted rookie free agents this year. Osgood has played in all three games and has one catch for 18 yards. Mattos saw his first game action last week against Baltimore.
