And as Detroit News beat man Mike OHara suggested this morning, Joey Harrington should benefit from Hakims presence.

And maybe he will; but Im not sure Fantasy owners would get a similar boost from the speedy former Ram.

In case you missed it, Hakim hasnt taken a snap in anger since the 10th game of last season, when he suffered a dislocated left hip. Surgery on his right knee in training camp further delayed his return.

In the meantime, starters Bill Schroeder and Charles Rogers have, but the remaining wideouts have combined for only three catches.

For what its worth.... Asked on Thursday what Hakim would add to the offense, head coach Steve Mariucci replied: "He adds some quickness. Hes a different style of receiver than the taller Schroeders and Charles Rogers and Scotty Andersons -- that size and that body-type of receiver.

"Hes shorter and hes quicker. Hes got a burst. Hes very good in windows and separating from man coverage. Hes a smart player. He gives us a backup punt returner. He gives us a little experience. Hes been so anxious to play. He wanted to play last week and I guess he probably could have, but I thought it was a week premature to do that."

Also of interest....

As reported by Booth Newspapers staff writer Tom Kowalski, Harrington wasnt sacked in either of the teams first two games.

Until the middle of this week, that is.

After league officials reviewed Detroits game film against the Packers, Harrington was given a sack.

The play happened with 43 seconds remaining in the game when Harrington fumbled the ball as he appeared to be setting up to pass. Harrington picked the ball up and tried to run up the middle when he was tackled. At the time, it was ruled a running play, but the league overturned it and called it an attempted passing play.
