than he does. I really didnt anticipate him doing as much as he did, but he felt good."

Trent Green, asked after Thursdays workout if he was worried about Holmes hitting the field Sunday, said: "No, I have no doubt he will be in there. Its not enough to keep him out. Everyone is just being smart taking care of him."

Green went on to express surprise at all the attention focused on Holmes failure to hit the practice field Wednesday.

"I think Steve McNair went 12 weeks last year without practicing and he did pretty well," Green noted. "Obviously every team handles that stuff differently. I think its smart that we are giving Priest this time to heal up. Its not like hes not doing anything. Hes still rehabbing. When we were out there yesterday, he was still doing his conditioning and making sure he doesnt lose that. Its just a matter of no one bumping into him or causing more injury than need be."

Asked if Gonzalezs level of play been effected by nagging injuries, Green said: "I think the thing thats effected him the most is that because of those injuries, he hasnt been able to practice as much so he hasnt gotten the reps that he normally gets so some of the stuff he gets in the game he hasnt practiced yet.

"The first time hes running it might be out on the field, or maybe he hasnt run it since back in training camp. Some of that stuff we put in back in training camp and we dont run it until we start game planning. Its just getting the reps and getting back on the field.

"The fact that hes healthier this week and he didnt get dinged last week and yesterday he took all the reps, I think as that gets going and his health gets better, he will be much more productive."

Pressed as to whether he saw noticeable improvement in the star tight end this week, Green said: "Oh yeah. I think so."
