Bear DWayne Bates is pumped up about facing his old team.

Playing in 14 games with 11 starts last year, the ex-Northwestern star had 50 receptions for 689 yards and four TDs for Minnesota after mustering just 15 catches for 221 yards and one TD in three years in Chicago.

"Theres still a little animosity, especially in my situation coming from Chicago," Bates said. "But you dont go out there with hatred. You go out there with a purpose.

"I have a lot of friends still on that team, so Im actually looking forward to playing that game. The surgery was performed by Dr. Daniel Diaco, the source said.

In an article published this morning, Corkran reported that his source said he hasnt received any word on how long Porter will be out, but that six to eight weeks is not out of the question.

"I would hope only six," he said.

Head coach Bill Callahan told Corkran he hadnt spoken with Porter as of Friday afternoon, but that he expected to do so later in the day.
