McNair from running the first couple of games, but he said the knee is fine now. Head coach Jeff Fisher said McNair is still capable of making a big play on the ground, but defenses are rushing him "intelligently," wary of his ability to run.

McNair rushed six times for 49 yards and two touchdowns in Tennessee''s 24-7 victory over New England last season.

"I feel confident," Meier said. "I feel different that I did in year''s past. Last year at times I felt like I was there and then kind of slipped. I don''t want to say that I am feeling perfect.

"I want to keep the three Hs -- happy, healthy and hungry. It feels like if I just stay hungry like that, and not get the mindset I''m there, I''ll be ok."
