Thomas practiced on Wednesday for the first time since injuring the foot in the team''s Oct. 12 loss at New Orleans.

Bothered in training camp with back spasms, Thomas got off to a slow start this season, running for a meager 15 yards in the season opener. He was held 53 yards on 10 carries the next week.

He finally got on track in the third game of the season, putting together back-to-back 100-yard rushing games.

Head coach Dick Jauron stopped short of saying Thomas would play against San Diego on Sunday, though he hopes to see him in the lineup.

"Anthony was really productive for us, obviously. We were running the ball very well with him," Jauron said. "He had a good day in practice. He didn''t act like he was limited. He worked hard, cut off it, wasn''t tentative at all. We''ll just have to see how he comes through the thing and how the week goes."

Thomas sounded a bit more optimistic.

"Right now it''s not hurting at all, thank God," Thomas told reporters after practice. "Getting up on my toes
