who plug the holes and let their linebackers run free. If you dont block those guys, they are going to make the tackle every time. Plus I think some people are just afraid to throw on them because of the talent they have in the secondary."

Thomas name surfaces a lot when discussing the Dolphins defense.

"The interesting thing about him, of all the middle linebackers Ive ever watched play the game, I dont know that Ive ever found one that is as disciplined in going where he is supposed to go," said Schottenheimer. "He takes remarkable angles. They ask him to cover wide receivers running across the field underneath. He certainly doesnt have the speed to do that, but because of his understanding of the defense and his ability to take the proper angles to intersect the guy, he can do it."

Tomlinson is third in the AFC with 657 rushing yards. Last week against Cleveland, he broke free for his third-career 200-yard game, becoming the fastest player in NFL history to accomplish that feat. He carried just 26 times against the Browns for an average of 7.7 yards per carry, a far cry from the 2.9 yards per carry the Dolphins are allowing.

"I think with regard to the running game, it makes everybody involved with the blocking more important, because you have to cover those people up," said Schottenheimer. "I think you start on the premise that from the inside with the defensive tackles, they are going to clog up the middle and they are going to force the ball to the edge. All of their guys can run. Then of course, their two safeties are very active in the run game, as are their corners."
