himself mentally and physically ready to perform on Sunday," receivers coach Mike Canales said. "He feels good -- he feels like, come Sunday, he''ll be ready to rock and roll."

Chrebet, injured in the Jets'' victory over Buffalo two weeks ago, had little to say to reporters after practice yesterday.

"I''ve got no status," he said when asked about tomorrow''s game. Then, when asked how he felt physically, Chrebet replied, "I can''t even talk about that."

Head coach Herman Edwards upgraded Chrebet from questionable to probable, but maintains the veteran receiver''s status will ultimately be determined by a "Dreaded Game-Time Decision."

You try to win the game.... If a guy can play and you think he can help you five or six plays, those might be the plays that help you win the game."

Edwards said some of the decision on whether to activate Chrebet will be based on the player''s word, and some on Edwards'' observations on how he looks in warmups.
