to Topeka Journal-Capital beat man Rick Dean, Priest Holmes took a limited number of practice reps Wednesday and is on the Chiefs injury report as probable with a hip flexor injury.

Asked after practice how Holmes was feeling, head coach Dick Vermeil said: "As of right now, I think he feels better than he has since the first game. So, Im real pleased with that. He did his weight training and running Monday and hes got a big smile on his face today. Trainers say hes feeling better than hes felt. I think hell be full speed.

"We worked him limited reps [Wednesday] and well work him a little harder [today]."

Holmes, who also took limited reps in two practices last week, is expected to start and play as usual against Denver, the team against whom he was injured last December.

For the second straight day, Leftwich took the majority of the snaps with the first team during Thursday''s practice, while Brunell took none.

The left-handed Brunell is listed as questionable for Sunday with a cut on his left elbow. He said the elbow is fine, however, and he looked good throwing in individual drills early in practice.

Head coach Jack Del Rio made the announcement shortly after practice.

"The injury plays into it a little bit, Del Rio said. "And I feel like this is our best option to help us win.
