Callahan informed receiver Ronald Curry that he would be the team''s third quarterback at Detroit if Gannon is out. Curry played quarterback at North Carolina, setting a school record with 4,987 career passing yards.

In an article published Monday, Pro Football Weekly reported that Tim Brown was seen pulling Callahan aside after practice last Wednesday for about a 10-minute discussion, and two of the topics discussed were believed to be the identity of the offense and the status of the relationship Brown and Jerry Rice have with Gannon.
Brown shot down any notion of there being a problem between Gannon and anyone on the offense.
Gannon, meanwhile, said the teams lack of discipline and inability to correct what is going wrong on the field were the main concerns going into the Monday-night matchup with Kansas City, not the play-calling or the system. He doesnt want anything to do with making excuses about injuries or age.
"We were honest with ourselves, Gannon said of 2002. "We weren''t trying to fool anybody. We said, ''Hey, we are what we are. ...''
