Callahan informed receiver Ronald Curry that he would be the team''s third quarterback at Detroit if Gannon is out. Curry played quarterback at North Carolina, setting a school record with 4,987 career passing yards.

Also of interest. ...

In an article published Monday, Pro Football Weekly reported that Tim Brown was seen pulling Callahan aside after practice last Wednesday for about a 10-minute discussion, and two of the topics discussed were believed to be the identity of the offense and the status of the relationship Brown and Jerry Rice have with Gannon.

Brown shot down any notion of there being a problem between Gannon and anyone on the offense.

You have to be able to handle it internally as a group and as an offense and as a team. That''s where we are.

"That''s why I can''t run from the truth."

And finally. ...

But the athletic wideout reported soreness afterwards. Callahan said it was not a setback.','10/23/2003','6:50:00 PM','Thursday',392 5963,27,8,'Garcia, Owens Continue to Play
