But, Callahan added, only the injury will keep the quarterback on the sideline.
"I told the team that Rich is our starter and if we have to go in a direction with Tui, predicated on health reasons, all our support would be toward Marques Tuiasosopo," Callahan said. "And I think the team understands that."
Callahan declined to discuss the results of Gannon''s MRI exam or a timetable for his return, and the coach said a decision for the Nov. 2 game at Detroit probably wouldn''t come until next Wednesday.
However, ESPNews is currently reporting that Gannon will miss two weeks -- a period that would include next week''s game -- due what the network described as a "sprained shoulder."
