practicing with Chris you kind of understand what he''s going to do and what his thought process is, so I feel it helped a lot," Gage said.
"I had a better feel for what he was thinking, how fast he was going to move. Practicing with him and then taking it into the game, it helped out tremendously as opposed to just going into the game and not having that comfort."
With Booker (ankle) and Merritt (neck) out, Wade and Gage will back up starters Dez White and David Terrell Sunday at Soldier Field.
Against the Seahawks, Wade caught the only ball thrown his way for an 11-yard gain on third-and-seven, while Gage had two receptions for 26 yards but dropped one catchable pass and failed to haul in another that was thrown behind him.
"They''re both getting better," said offensive coordinator John Shoop. "I do think one thing that''s interesting is Chris has been working a lot of scout team and maybe has a better rapport with those guys than any of the other quarterbacks on our team.
"It''s interesting that a guy like Justin Gage comes into the game out of nowhere and has four balls thrown to him, some of them down the field. Now, the problem is he''s got to come up with some of those down-the-field completions. I think he left about 50 yards maybe out on the field and he knows that.
"Assignment-wise I feel good about where they both are, but the speed of the game is something you can''t simulate in practice no matter how hard you try. Those guys need to step up in the game and make some of the catches."
Gage let a Chandler pass slip through his fingers on the Bears'' desperation drive after Seattle had scored the go-ahead touchdown with :58 left in the game. But the 22-year-old vowed not to let the drop affect him.
"I shook it off right after the play," he said. "There''s nothing you can do at that point. It''s in the past. All you can do is come back and make a better play, make a big play for the team, so I''ll have that chance this weekend."
