Head coach Dave McGinnis said Gramatica won''t play in Sunday''s home game against San Francisco. Kicking duties will be handled by Tim Duncan, who has suited up for the past three games and kicked a 46-yard field goal in his only chance.

Gramatica said his back felt fine after Wednesday''s rehab. He said it doesn''t hurt him when he kicks field goals, but tightens up when he kicks off.

"I think it''s due to the rotation on kickoffs. You kick field goals with your leg, but you use your whole body on kickoffs," he said.

McGinnis said he can''t afford to suit up two kickers, and there''s no use in activating Gramatica unless he can count on him to be healthy for both roles. Gramatica underwent a magnetic resonance imaging test on Friday, but was still awaiting a reading by a neurologist on Wednesday.
