But Deuce McAllister said the talk will be a waste of time and energy unless it''s transferred to the game Sunday.

In an article published Monday, Pro Football Weekly reminded readers that after taking a 27-12 pounding at the hands of the Titans in Week 3, Haslett admitted that he had been outcoached and simply did not have his team prepared to play.

But PFW contends that Haslett was trying to deflect some of the blame from his team to his coaching staff because there is concern that the teams already-fragile psyche wouldnt be able to take a week of getting bashed by the fans and media. Insiders suggest that the team lacks heart, as it fails to fight through adversity when it presents itself and instead takes a "Here we go again" attitude when the going gets rough.

Because Haslett doesnt want his team throwing up its hands due to the slow start, he is trying to make people think that he didnt have his team properly prepared to play. The downside of that strategy is that it may lead people to think that Haslett isnt the man to lead the team back to the playoffs.

PFW was told Haslett has one thing going for him in that area: The three remaining years on his contract may make him too expensive to fire.
