Harris lost the punt returning job earlier this season after costly fumbles in two consecutive games. But Martz never gave up on him.

Faulk, who has missed three games plus the bye week since being injured on Sept. 21, returned to practice on Wednesday but was late after attending a funeral. He participated on a limited basis and if he''s activated on Sunday against the Steelers it likely would be on an emergency-only basis.

"He just took a few reps to get used to moving around a little bit," Martz said. "He''ll take a little bit more tomorrow and see where he is and we''ll just kind of go from there."

Martz said Gordon likely won''t attempt to practice until Friday.

"I think those things with the ankle, well wait and see what Friday looks like," the coach explained. "It will be one of those things where well see what he can do on Friday, if he can move around and run and get on the treadmill and do those things."

Gordon said he was still having trouble pushing off on his injured left ankle and admitted it was a much greater concern than the sprained left wrist that has bothered him off and on.

"I could play with the wrist, I''d just put the ball in my right arm," Gordon said. "But I can''t run on one leg. The ankle is really bothering me right now."

The Rams said Gordon also sustained a mild concussion on the hit that knocked him out of the game. He didn''t think so, and said his response to a game-plan quiz administered by Faulk proved he was fine.
