Is he kidding? Does he realize the Cowboys ranked 30th and averaged 273.4 yards per game in 2002?"

Yes. No. Yes.

Yes, underachieving is the word Campbell used. No, he is not kidding. And yes, he knows all about the Cowboys'' offensive futility in 2002. He just doesn''t much care. He wants to extend the Cowboys'' four-game winning streak and does not think it''s possible unless the offense starts to play better.

"As of late, it has been just enough to get a win, to be honest with you," Campbell said. "I think if we continue to play like we have, it is going to catch up. We''ve left too much out there on the field."

Floyd Engel went on to note Campbell is a smart guy. He is also a perfectionist. He did not get this theory all on his own.

We need to pick it up.'' And then he''ll come in next week and say, ''We got a couple of guys who aren''t doing their job, and they are not the same ones from last week.''"

And therein lies the genius of the Cowboys'' offense. It relies on no one single player to make it go because it is reliant on no one single thing.

It is not a West Coast offense, but the Cowboys can go three-wide with the best in the NFL. They would like to be a ball-control team, but they don''t have a workhorse back, so they get the number of carries they want with a number of different guys. What
