After skipping Wednesday and Thursday''s workouts in order to rest his sore foot, the Sporting News reports that Jeremy Shockey got some work in at practice on Friday. He was limited but will be fine to start on Sunday.

"We''re just being cautious," head coach Jim Fassel said of his star tight end. "He can move around. If we played today, he''d be playing. But this is how we have to deal with it until we calm down the soreness for a while. ..."

As noted by the Sports XChange, Kerry Collins, who has thrown seven interceptions the last two games (and nine for the season), makes no excuses and takes the blame. But Fassel says that he had the video department cut a tape of just the interceptions and says that of the nine, "I can definitely say two of them were Kerry''s fault."

Other reasons include wrong patterns run by receivers, passes being deflected at the line and "just bad luck on a few others."

In an article published Thursday, SportsLine.com insider Pete Prisco noted that former offensive coordinator Sean Payton''s success in Dallas comes at a time when the Giants are struggling on offense, which has to make him chuckle some after Fassel made him the scapegoat in the team''s offensive struggles early last season by stripping him of his play-calling duties.

And with his team''s record standing at a disappointing 2-3, there is again talk coming out of New York and from personnel people around the league that Fassel could be in trouble if the Giants don''t make the playoffs.
