Off; Will Start As Usual...','According to Contra Costa Times beat man Cam Inman, Jeff Garcia did not practice Friday so his bruised right forearm and aching body could rest before he plays Sunday in the 49ers'' game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, head coach Dennis Erickson said.

Garcia also missed a practice last week -- on Oct. 9 -- for what Erickson said was a bruised arm, and Erickson said he''ll continue to keep Garcia out of practice once a week until he''s healthier.

"He gets everything (in practice) on Wednesday and Thursday, then Friday we just let [backup] Tim [Rattay] go," Erickson said. "As he gets healthier, we may practice him on Friday, but that''s our routine for now."

Asked if he''s concerned about Garcia''s availability Sunday, Erickson said: "Oh, no, no, no."

Garcia watched practice with a brace on his right wrist -- as he did last week --but he had the brace off after practice while walking around in the locker room. Garcia''s practice time was limited during the 2001 season because of elbow tendinitis.

"You just have to find a way to fight through those things, and that''s what I''m doing."

Garcia has been sacked 11 times this season, the highest total after six games in his four seasons as the full-time starter. He got sacked 18 times in all of 2002. Up next for him and the 49ers'' injury-ravaged offensive line is a Buccaneers unit that has at least one sack in its past 65 games.

"They have their biggest test this weekend as far as playing against probably the best defensive line in the league, so it''s going to be the ultimate challenge for these guys," Garcia said of his linemen. "But I have to put my trust in them, that they''re going to do it, and I feel confident they''re going to do the best job possible to allow
