Banks went on to note that Johnson has been on fire statistically for almost a full year now. Since missing one game with a left rib fracture suffered in a Week 7 loss at Philadelphia last season, Johnson has thrown 27 touchdowns and just four interceptions in his past 11 regular-season games. In that span, he has completed 261 of 402 attempts (64.9 percent) for 2,860 yards and a rating of 104.1.

And that says nothing of his strong three-game Super Bowl run, when he threw for five touchdowns with 670 yards.

Since the start of last season, Johnson has 34 touchdown passes against only nine interceptions -- for a league-best touchdown/interception ratio of 0.79. This season, he''s ranked first in the NFC and third in the league -- behind Steve McNair (107.8) and Peyton Manning (101.3) -- in passer rating with a 101.1 mark and leads the NFC in touchdown passes (12). His 1,355 passing yards trail only Patrick Ramsey''s 1,518 in the NFC, and he has thrown just three interceptions.

None of which seems to impress Johnson nearly as much as the team''s turnover ratio. Tampa Bay is tied for the league lead with a plus-10 turnover ratio -- 14 takeaways compared to four turnovers (three interceptions, one fumble).

"That is the No. 1 stat you''re going to look at, besides winning and losing," Johnson said. "That kind of dictates the way games go. It dictates the whole nature of the game. That''s where we''ve been great."

The offense''s production has affected the defense. Long, sustained drives give defensive players a reprieve on the sideline, while the accumulating points put pressure on the opponent.
