"When you start losing, you start to get overanxious. And for myself, I want to make plays," Owens told Bay Area television reporters Tuesday. Yarber, who replaced Owens'' confidant George Stewart as 49ers receivers coach this year, said he won''t hesitate to critique Owens if he sees something wrong technique-wise. Yarber said he did just that regarding one of Owens'' drops Sunday on a sideline route.
"He''s trying to make a play too quick and he''s not watching the ball all the way into his tuck," Yarber said.
In an article published by the Sporting News this morning, War Room analyst Gary Horton offered the following assessment:
"Owens has sold out on routes, games, teammates, coaches and his franchise. Too bad. He could be helping Jeff Garcia and the 49ers'' injury-plagued offensive line through a rough time, but instead he is pouting and creating rifts at every turn. The attitude has affected his play.
"Owens has the best size-strength-speed combination in football, but he isn''t especially quick, so the effort needs to be there for him to consistently get separation.

Even though Owens, who led the league in touchdown receptions the past two seasons, only has two touchdown catches this year, his 34 receptions put him on pace for 91 this season.
