Browns cornerback Anthony Henry said he didn''t spot any such pre-snap signals when he watched Owens on film, though he said he wishes he knew what to look for before their game last month. "You can pick that key up on some receivers and that''s a great key to have," Henry said.

Seahawks cornerback Ken Lucas said one key Sunday night was simply to challenge Owens and see if his incredibly chiseled, 6-foot-3, 226-pound frame would battle for the ball. Although Lucas rated Owens as one of the league''s top five receivers, he wouldn''t rank him as the toughest.

"I have seen more physical wide receivers in the league," Lucas said Thursday. "He is a physical specimen. But I don''t know if he plays up to how he looks. I don''t know if that''s his game. ... All our corners were confident to go up and challenge him."

Head coach Dennis Erickson recently disputed a theory about a possible decline in Owens'' aggressiveness, stating that Owens plays as physical as he did before sustaining a mild concussion in a Week 2 loss at St. Louis.

"All of us aren''t playing very well," Erickson said Monday. "It is not like him to make some mistakes and drop some balls. But I look for him to come back and get back on track this week and make some plays."

When it comes to dropping multiple passes in a game, that trend typically has surfaced once a season during Owens'' eight-year career.

"He told me last game, ''I don''t drop passes and I had a bad game. I''m going to bounce back,''" Yarber said. "I admire his resolve."

After dropping three passes in last year''s season opener against the New York Giants, Owens bounced back to make a key catch on the eventual winning drive.

In 2001, he dropped four catches in a defeat to the St. Louis Rams, and then sat silently in front of his locker for an hour before driving to the 49ers facility that night to review film and make new goals for the season.
