And in yet another related note....

In a column published Thursday, SportsLine.com insider Pete Prisco noted the the Cowboys were busy Tuesday trying to trade for a running back, but they couldn''t pull off any deal. They called about Kevan Barlow in San Francisco, but the 49ers told them no way. The inquired about a few other backs but did not make a deal.

As for Corey Dillon, his contract made it prohibitive for the Cowboys to make a deal for him and they didn''t even inquire.

Prisco went on to suggest team officials aren''t necessarily unhappy with Hambrick, but they don''t believe he''s in the same class as Barlow....

Also according to Prisco, Parcells is getting rave reviews for helping make Quincy Carter a better player, but a lot of the credit should also go to three offensive assistants.

Assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach Sean Payton and offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon have helped Carter''s improvement along, but David Lee, an offensive assistant, also deserves his share of the credit.

Lee is in his first year with the team after spending the past 18 coaching in college. A former college quarterback at Vanderbilt, he has worked closely with Carter on his mechanics, which are significantly better.

Prisco summed up by noting: "If Payton or Carthon end up as head coaches, Lee could someday take an ever more prominent role in the team''s offensive coaching."

And finally....

Carthon returns to Detroit, where he was running backs coach in 2001 and the offensive coordinator last year. The Cowboys rank fourth in the NFL in total offense.

"There are a lot of people''s fingerprints on this offense," Parcells said. "(But) I give Mo a lot of credit. Mo grew up in the same system I grew up in, so that''s where he learned his."','10/17/2003','10:45:00 AM','Friday',343 5914,27,7,'Streets Resting, But OK; Struggling Owens Selling Out?','According to Contra Costa Times
