Parcells has warned him that this won''t be a try-and-see effort Sunday and that he had better be sure he can handle a full load.

"I have a little deal with the Cowboys," Parcells said. "If you tell me you can go, and you last two plays, you better be dead. I tell the players, the worst thing that can happen is if we count on you to do it, and you can''t do it; we are short. Not only are we short on offense, but we are short on special teams. The truth is coming out here before the game."

Also according to Hill, Parcells has made no secret about his love for the fullback position and his belief that it could be a tremendous weapon in today'' NFL. His problem is that the fullback talent pool is very shallow, which forces teams to use converted running backs at the position, but most of "those converted tailbacks don''t block like guys who grew up with it."

Parcells thinks Troy Hambrick, who has distinguished himself more as a blocker than a runner so far, could be the exception.

"It''s crossed my mind," Parcells said. " I''m not saying that is what I would do, but it''s not a bad idea. It''s in the blender; I''ll tell you that."

After reminding readers that Hambrick is struggling (totaling 345 yards and just 3.4 per attempt) in his first season as the team''s starting halfback, the Sports XChange suggested Wednesday that Dallas will try to establish their running game against a Lions defense that ranks 25th in the league.

It is important to get it going for success later in the season and Sunday when the Cowboys would need something they can rely to avoid an upset at the hands of the lowly Lions.

Fullback Jamar Martin will be used more in an attempt to open up the ground game and Hambrick will continue to pound on the left side behind tackle Flozell Adams and guard
