Although he is once again listed as doubtful, there is an outside chance wide receiver Jerry Porter will make his return against the Chiefs after missing the last five games in the wake of hernia surgery.
"I''ve felt a pressing need (to play) ever since I went down," he said. "The game just happens to be Kansas City and they just happen to be 6-0 and leading our division and I just happen to want to play a whole lot."
Porter, who reportedly worked at full speed Wednesday, said he would step up his practice routine this week to determine if he can return.
"I didn''t do much last week," he said of his practice regimen prior to going inactive in Cleveland. "I practice practiced today."
According to the Sports XChange, teammates seem to think this will be the week Porter returns, even though team officials continue to list him as doubtful.','10/17/2003','12:30:00 AM','Friday',337 5908,11,7,'Harrington Getting Used To Playing Through Pain...','As reported by Detroit Free Press sports writer Curt Sylvester, all eyes were on the Lions quarterback and the pass rusher.
As Joey Harrington tried to backpedal out of traffic and sidestep his way into an open passing lane, defensive tackle Shaun Rogers closed in on him.
Harrington hurriedly delivered the ball, brushing his right hand against the massive Rogers, even as Rogers seemed to slow down to avoid the contact.
Moments later, Harrington gave the hand a quick shake -- as if to restart the circulation in a limb that has fallen asleep -- and continued with the Wednesday afternoon practice session.
As Sylvester put it: "No harm, no foul."
"That''s just the quarterback getting hit when he throws," Harrington said, laughing.
Perhaps there was no new or additional damage done by the incidental contact between pass rusher and passer,
