City in Oakland.

Gannon hinted his teammates who keep making excuses might need a reality check.

Oakland, 0-4 on the road for the first time since 1962, had 19 penalties in its 13-7 loss at Cleveland on Sunday, including five straight flags for 35 yards during one offensive series in the third quarter.

That many mistakes won''t win you many games.

"I''m not proud of it, I''m just being honest with you," Gannon said. "I''m a realist. If you go out and look at the film and you expect anything else. ... In other words, if you commit 19 penalties on the road against Cleveland and you walk out of the locker room and go, ''We should have won,'' then you''re sniffing glue or something.

"I don''t know what to tell you. You have to be out of your mind. That''s not the way it is. I''m not trying to be funny, but that''s the truth. I live in the real world. I look at the film and I see what we''re doing, and I see the mistakes we''re making. You can''t win that way. It''s that simple."

Gannon, the reigning NFL MVP, hasn''t been himself so far. He''s completed only 115 of 206 passes (55.8 percent) for 1,216 yards and six touchdowns and has a 76.8 quarterback rating. He''s been sacked 14 times for 72 yards and intercepted three times.

The 37-year-old Gannon was sacked only 36 times all last season as the Raiders reached the Super Bowl. It makes things tough when he''s got a beat-up offensive line trying to protect him.

In fact, the Raiders could be without three of their five starting offensive lineman on Monday night. Frank Middleton''s quad injury isn''t as severe as initially feared, but he''s doubtful for this week. Lincoln Kennedy and Mo Collins are questionable.

And finally. ...

Gannon says the Raiders'' system isn''t too complicated, they''re just not executing.

"I''ve heard talk about our system and the audibles and the mechanics and the procedures and the mechanism at the line of scrimmage. It''s all baloney," Gannon said. "There''s no truth to it whatsoever. That''s just the way it is.
