Barber might change the way he holds the ball though, especially after watching videotapes with head coach Jim Fassel.

"As soon as you start changing who you are, you lose yourself as a player," Barber said Wednesday after the Giants finished practice for Sunday''s game against the Eagles. "You don''t become as effective. The things that made you successful, you aren''t doing anymore. That''s what I have to be cognizant of."

Barber is well aware of his problem holding the ball. His 30 fumbles since the 2000 season are the most in the NFL among non-quarterbacks in that period.

"I am very confident in my abilities as a football player and I know everyone around me is as well," Barber said. "It''s just a matter of going to work and doing my job and focusing in on the little things."
