on the passing game could explain their problems inside the red zone. While Maddox leads the NFL in passing yardage and the Steelers are third in total yards per game, they have scored just five touchdowns in 15 trips inside the opponent''s 20-yard line.

One way to remedy that could be to run more of a spread offense, taking advantage of their talented receivers and giving Zereoue more running lanes.

It is a formation in which he''s had a lot of success, when he served as the third-down back behind Bettis.

"I''m not the offensive coordinator," Zereoue said. "It''s easier when you''re the third-down guy to spread them out. But it''s different when you''re the every-down guy. You have to play within the whole game plan."

He admits, however, that it''s tough to get a feel for the running game when the team is doing it sporadically. Zereoue hasn''t gotten more than 18 carries in a game this season.

And finally....

Hines Ward moved into second place on the Steelers career list with 361 receptions. Louis Lipps caught 358. John Stallworth leads with 537. "It''s a big honor," Ward said. He leads the AFC with 32 catches.

For the record, Ward, who leads AFC receivers with 31 receptions, left last week''s game in the fourth quarter with a slight concussion but was not included on this week''s injury report.','10/3/2003','11:45:00 AM','Friday',232 5804,18,5,'Injuries Alone Don''t Explain Brady''s Struggles...','In an article published earlier today, Providence Journal sports writer Tom E.
