As reported by DenverBroncos.com staffer Andrew Mason, the wait for Jake Plummer''s return just got longer.

Wednesday, the team announced that Plummer is out for this week''s game against the Minnesota Vikings -- as well as the next two games. Head trainer Steve Antonopulos believes that Plummer will be out until after the bye week, which comes on Nov. 9, following the Broncos'' Week 9 game against the New England Patriots.

"The doctors say about four weeks," Antonopulos said.

Yet it is not the sore right shoulder that will keep him on the sidelines; rather, it is a fractured third metatarsal in his left foot.

"It was on Monday. I was fine all day," Plummer said. "I got up off the couch and felt a pop in my foot. It actually just felt almost like a strain; I thought, ''Well, it''s just a strain,'' because I still had some bruising in there and it was still tender."

Antonopulos believes that the injury originated in the Oct. 5 game at Kansas City. Following that game, Plummer received treatment on his foot and shoulder.

"He injured his knee and ankle at the same time," Antonopulos said. "When he was scrambling, (he) came up into the line, and the guy hit him and he (landed) on his knee and his foot at the same time. ... That occurred in the first quarter of the game."

But even after Plummer showed up for treatment at team headquarters on Tuesday, a fracture wasn''t feared. But when the pain didn''t fade on Wednesday morning, an X-ray was ordered.
