in Cleveland when Holcomb is ready to return.

"I''m sure [the media] will make it a quarterback controversy at that time," Holcomb said. "All that really matters is if the Cleveland Browns are winning ball games. If we keep doing that, then all this other stuff will take care of itself."

For what it''s worth. ...

The comparison in production between Couch and Holcomb is striking. Couch has completed 70.5 percent of his throws, Holcomb 59.6 percent. Couch is averaging 8.0 yards per attempt, Holcomb 5.3 yards. Couch has four touchdowns and two interceptions, Holcomb three touchdowns and five interceptions.

Couch hit a helmet in the first quarter Sunday night and played the rest of the game with a bruised and swollen right hand. Couch said he didn''t have the hand X-rayed at halftime. "It hurt while I was playing, but I didn''t think it was broken," he said.

The hand was still bruised and swollen early this week, but Couch said he was fine. In 2000, Couch hit his hand on a helmet and missed the final nine games with a fractured right thumb.

And finally. ...

Following up on an item in this week''s Team Notes. ... Although initial reports indicated Quincy Morgan could miss time to a knee injury suffered against the Steelers, that won''t be the case.

The injury turned out to be a mild sprain
