Place-kicker Matt Bryant, who has not played since injuring a hamstring on Oct. 5, kicked today and seemed to be fine, though Fassel said he needs to see Bryant kick for three or four consecutive days before deciding whether to keep him active for the game.

However, instead of just taking the day off -- as hes done on an almost weekly basis all season, Owens had an MRI exam on the same injury that plagued him throughout last season, an injury that forced him to miss two games.
Head coach Dennis Erickson, however, expects Owens to play Monday night against Pittsburgh -- even though his star receiver might not practice again this week.
Owens, leads the 49ers with 48 receptions for 636 yards and four touchdowns.

According to the teams media relations department, there is no quarterback controversy.
Not this week anyway as Erickson made it very clear Wednesday who the teams starting quarterback would be against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"Right now, unless something drastically changes, Tim [Rattay] will be the starter. I think the question will be will Jeff be able to be the second guy or will he be able to be the emergency guy, is what my thoughts are right now," Erickson said after watching Jeff Garcia return to practice Wednesday. "[Garcia is] not 100 percent by any means, but it was a pretty darn good improvement.
