Green appeal, which will likely come this week, there is an extremely favorable chance, Green will win his case, simply because the Browns were told they were not allowed to suspend him for this incident.','11/9/2003','9:40:00 AM','Sunday',526 6096,21,10,'Team Doctor "Not Sure" Chrebet Will Play Football Again...','Wayne Chrebet, sidelined by the after-effects of a concussion, was examined by an independent neurologist this week. This after the veteran receiver suffered his second head injury of the season when he was hit by the Giants Omar Stoutmire in last Sundays overtime loss. Chrebet returned to the game but started feeling post-concussion symptoms on Monday.
Chrebet is being treated by Jets medical director Elliot Pellman, who also is a concussion specialist for the NFL.
Tests conducted Monday, including a CAT scan and MRI of Chrebets back and an MRI of his brain, showed no injury. Yet because Chrebet complained of fatigue and some headache-like pain Monday night and early Wednesday (the two had no contact Tuesday), Pellman submitted the receiver for more neuropsychological tests with other doctors, including an independent neurologist.
"Will I look at you and say will Wayne Chrebet play football again? Yeah, I think so." Pellman said. "But Im not sure. I need some help with this one and thats why Im reaching out to the experts.
"He will not return to play until Im convinced hes OK."
Thats not to say Chrebet has a serious injury, but Pellman, Chrebet and the Jets want to err on the side of caution and rule out post concussion syndrome -- a swelling of the brain that can cause headaches, nausea, blurred vision, dizziness and other symptoms long after the initial injury.
Post concussion syndrome also lengthens the amount of time needed to heal from a concussion and often makes the person more susceptible to a concussion from a blow that might not otherwise cause one.
