on Sunday.
Gordon has been suffering from a "Dreaded High Ankle Sprain" and had been slow to recover. So slow, in fact, that on Monday, Martz estimated it would be a number of weeks before Gordon returned.
Given Faulks return to the starting lineup, Martz said Gordon probably would be used only in an emergency if hes able to play on Sunday.
"Im suiting up. Im ready to go," said Gordon, who has sounded as depressed as any Ram in recent weeks as his injury slowly healed.
"The last two weeks, the day after I ran -- really, the next three days -- I could barely walk. It was hurting. I woke up this morning, got in the hot tub and actually felt just like yesterday and I ran yesterday. That made me feel really good about it."
Martz was more cautious in discussing Gordons progress, but he praised his effort in Fridays practice.
"Theres a chance. Before (Fridays) practice I said no chance," Martz said. "The key now is how he feels in the morning. You do that and see if its sore. If its not sore, thats a pretty good indication that we could have him."
And a few final notes here....
According to the Sports XChange, Faulk acknowledged that he would have continued playing on a bad knee had he not broken two bones in his hand against Seattle on Sept. 21.
Asked if the knee was the reason he struggled in those first three games, Faulk said, "I dont know and I wont say how much of it was. Because if youre injured you shouldnt go out there. And if you cant go, you shouldnt go. Sometimes as players you dont know exactly how bad it is, how much it hurts.
"They went in and found that it was hurt even more than I thought it was. There was a problem from what happened in the preseason. It was there, and you cant tell (how bad) until you go in...."
Dan Alexander was signed Wednesday and Joffrey Reynolds released. Alexander will be used as a halfback, not a fullback, and will also be expected to contribute on special teams. The Rams like Alexanders size and the fact he has been around the NFL since 2001.','11/8/2003','5:45:00 AM','Saturday',515
