','11/7/2003','3:05:00 AM','Friday',504 6074,23,10,'Stomach Virus Keeps McNabb From Practicing...','According to Philadelphia Inquirer staff writer Bob Brookover, Donovan McNabb, who has been bothered by an assortment of physical ailments through the first eight weeks of the season, missed yesterdays practice with a stomach virus.
Two other offensive starters -- center Hank Fraley and left guard John Welbourn -- also skipped the session.
"Theyll be fine," head coach Andy Reid said when asked about Fraley and McNabb. "Hank just started on antibiotics. That will clear up fairly quick. Hopefully, Donovan is just a 24-hour deal and he can get back in there."
Reid also believes that Welbourn will be ready Monday, although the fact that his injury has lingered has to be of some concern.
"I think hes going to be OK," Reid said. "Well see how it goes in the next day or two."
Backup Koy Detmer took snaps in place of McNabb and rookie Alonzo Ephraim worked in place of Fraley. Reid said if Welbourn is unable to play, the starting assignment will go to Artis Hicks, a second-year undrafted player out of Memphis who has dressed just twice in his career.
Also on the injury front. ...
Brian Westbrook (high ankle sprain) ran on his own Thursday. "Well see how he progresses through this week," Reid said.
However, the consensus among observers still says Westbrook misses a second game. Team officials are hopeful hell be able to return next week. ...
According to the Sports XChange, place-kicker David Akers, who was bothered by a toe inflammation on his kicking foot last week, is nursing a heel injury on the same foot this week, but will play Monday. ...
