6302,27,13,'Healthy, Well-Rested Garcia Learned From Watching...','Jeff Garcia promised last week that hell return to the 49ers starting lineup today against the host Baltimore Ravens with the energy and enthusiasm thats typical of "how I play the game."
But as Contra Costa Times beat man Cam Inman pointed out this morning: "Another Garcia trademark is his impatience in the pocket. Hell hop around, flee from a collapsing pocket and conduct a one-man fire drill."
But that could change. While Garcia watched from the sidelines the past three games with a sprained left ankle, he saw his role filled by Tim Rattay, a more statuesque pocket passer.
"He was able to allow routes to develop and put the ball where he needed to put it," Garcia said. "At times, thats what needs to be my game, as far as being a little more patient. Rattay had ratings of 110.7 and 130.6 in leading the 49ers to victories in his two starts, going 40-for-56 for 490 yards with five touchdowns and one interception. He foiled any talk of a quarterback controversy last week by going 14-for-30 for 142 yards with one touchdown and one interception (57.9 rating) in a 20-10 loss at Green Bay.
Rattay benefited in his first two starts from having an offensive line that perhaps was healthier than it had been all season. Thats not the case anymore, as Garcia again must make due with a patchwork offensive line because
