As East Valley Tribune staffer Darren Urban noted Thursday, Thanksgiving was always a game day when Emmitt Smith played for the Dallas Cowboys. This year, it was practice with the Cardinals while the Cowboys hosted Miami.
"It is different," the running back said. "But this is an opportunity for me to experience something different and different isnt always a bad thing."
Smith will be backing up Shipp Sunday in Chicago, another different experience for him.
Asked how he would use Smith, McGinnis quipped, "Turn the quarterback around a quarter turn and hand it to him."
On a more serious note, McGinnis said there will be no limitations on Smith. "We will run him pretty good in practice this week," McGinnis said.
Smith said he has no expectations for his first game back, but he smiled when it was suggested 25 carries for Smith meant the Cardinals would be running their offense well.
"If I get 25 carries or 30 carries then we are doing a lot," Smith said. "You got me and Shipp and I dont think I will see 30 carries. I think it will be a good balance between the both of us."

While Anquan Boldin doesnt seem too concerned about getting his one additional yard to push him over the 1,000 yard receiving mark, it is something his teammates are excited about seeing.
"I am real proud of him," shared tight end Freddie Jones. "Ive watched him grow over the season and it is good to sit down and watch him because hes not playing like a rookie in any sense. I think the coaches have a whole lot of love for him and they call a lot of specific plays to get him the ball and I think that is attributed to his talent that they do that."
