"Hes our quarterback," is all Del Rio said when asked if Leftwich would play the entire game.
He said on Monday that he was thinking about starting David Garrard. By waiting until his radio show Tuesday night to announce he was sticking with Leftwich, he raised questions about whether hell consider yanking Leftwich during a game.
But Del Rio wouldnt get into any specifics Wednesday, including any explanation about what were the factors in his decision.
"I thought it was the best decision for our football team," he said.
"I said I would consider whether or not that [changing quarterbacks] would be something to give us a spark. ... Ive spent ample time looking at it, talking it over with the staff and Ive made my decision."
Receiver Jimmy Smith said he was somewhat surprised Del Rio stuck with Leftwich after publicly saying he was thinking about a move.
