Doctors still advised Manning not to throw during Thursdays practice, a day after Manning said he felt a "twinge in the elbow on his throwing arm.
Head coach Tony Dungy said he expected Manning to throw Friday, and he is listed as probable on the teams injury report.
"It was a good sign that the MRI was negative, Dungy said. "We felt it was a very minor situation, but you always feel better when you get it confirmed.
Manning hurt his arm Wednesday during a morning walkthrough and was limited in practice Wednesday afternoon to protect his throwing arm.
Brock Huard, the only other quarterback on the roster, threw all of the passes in practice Thursday while Manning spent the two-hour session working on his footwork, throwing motion and talking to coaches.
Dungy said Wednesday he did not believe the injury was serious and was relieved the MRI results confirmed that.
