What is Fantasy Football

In its simplest form, the idea of fantasy sports is no different than any other game or contest that involves testing your knowledge against a group of friends. Fantasy sports was created over 20 years ago when a group of baseball fans took the bragging rights of — "I know more about the game than you do" — to a game level by creating rules and scoring systems to define what "best" was.

Fantasy football has become the most popular of all fantasy sports in recent years, mostly because it is one of the easier fantasy games to play. A group of friends — known as team "owners" — get together at the beginning of the football season and select a roster of NFL players with the idea of putting together the team that puts up the best statistics each week. Fantasy football contests can be found in many places on the web. They range from contests and leagues that are a total waste of time to some of the most challenging you can find.

had been with the team in 2001 and 2002 but was cut in the preseason, to take Dunns spot on the roster.','11/27/2003','11:20:00 AM','Thursday',683 6253,19,13,'Brooks Practices; Remains On Track To Play...','According to Baton Rouge Advocate sports writer Sheldon Mickles, Aaron Brooks practiced Wednesday, three days after re-injuring his left knee in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Results of an MRI performed late Monday afternoon showed that Brooks has a sprained medial collateral ligament. Brooks, who originally injured the knee in a Nov. 16 game with the Atlanta Falcons, is listed as probable for Sundays game against the Washington Redskins.

"It limits me somewhat, but its obviously not 100 percent," Brooks said. "Its not that drastic that I cant get the job done. I played last week, nobody knew about it. Its pretty much the same situation -- play on it, practice on it."

Brooks, who has started 50 consecutive games in the regular season and playoffs since 2000, shared time with Todd Bouman running the first-team offense during the two-hour workout.

"Aaron is fine," head coach Jim Haslett said. "He practiced today, but hes a little sore. He did a nice job today, hell be ready to go...."

The same cant be said of receivers Donte Stallworth and Michael Lewis, neither of whom practiced Wednesday. Both men are listed as doubtful with ankle injuries.

Joe Horn and Jerome Pathon will be the starters with Talman Gardner lining up as the third receiver. Derrick Lewis was promoted off the practice squad Wednesday to provide depth at the position.

In a semi-related note....

According to Pro Football Weekly, even though Horn, Stallworth and Pathon have been disappointments this year, the team isnt thinking about shaking up the receiving corps next year.

Stallworths production -- or lack thereof -- has been the biggest letdown, but Haslett still sees good
