"Theres nothing that he couldnt do out there [Friday]," Sherman said.
The hairline fracture underneath the thumbnail on Favres throwing hand occurred on Favres second pass of the last game. The thumb struck the shoulder pad of left guard Mike Wahle as Favre followed through on the pass.
Though he was in pain, Favre managed to play the remainder of the game. He completed 23 of 31 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns with the broken thumb that actually wasnt diagnosed until the next day.
Aided by the subsequent bye week on the Packers schedule, Favre appears set to make his 198th consecutive start, a league record for quarterbacks. He is listed as probable for tonights game.
"Hes not going to re-injure the injury. The injury is what it is, I believe," Sherman said. Favre wore a protective splint on the thumb for the third straight day in practice. Sherman said Favre will play tonight with the splint or have the thumb heavily taped.
Either way, Sherman was convinced after watching him practice Friday that the thumb wont have an effect on Favres throwing.
"Its the same velocity, the same ball that hes always thrown. It hasnt really changed, believe it or not," Sherman said. "I think the fact that he has such extremely large hands, the thumb pretty much just holds the ball in place for him."
Halfback Tony Fisher believes Favre will add to his legacy tonight.
"Especially since people are probably counting him out right now with that thumb," Fisher said. "I think hes going to come out there and have a terrific game."

Also according to McMahon, Sherman placed extra emphasis on ball security during the three days of practice this week.
The Packers have been plagued by fumbling problems in the last two games, both losses. Ahman Green had a costly fumble in overtime against Kansas City on Oct. 12, which set up a game-winning touchdown for the Chiefs. A week later, Greens fourth lost fumble of the season led to a St. Louis
