Garcia had been out the past three games with a high ankle sprain.
Garcia practiced with the first team Wednesday and according to the teams media relations department, his performance obviously pleased head coach Dennis Erickson enough to be named the starter.
According to Pro Football Weekly, before last Sundays loss to the Packers the locker room was pretty evenly split between those who wanted Garcia to return to the starting lineup and those who wanted Tim Rattay to remain under center.
While he has been very careful lately about letting his feelings be known, the consensus seems to be that receiver Terrell Owens -- whose 61-yard TD bomb from Rattay against the Steelers was his first score of the season on a long pass -- prefers Rattay.
There are others, though, such as veteran tackle Derrick Deese, who have continued to offer impassioned support for Garcia while also criticizing the media for blowing the quarterback issue out of proportion.
Erickson had said all along that Garcia would return as the starter as long as he was 100 percent. ...
