one of the few healthy receivers on the roster, joined David Givens and Troy Brown on the sideline at practice Friday. All three are questionable (leg injuries) for tomorrows game in Houston.
In fact, in an article published early Saturday, the Boston Globe reminded readers that Brown and Givens did not practice all week and there was some doubt Friday as to whether Givens, more so than Brown, would travel. The second-year pro hails from Humble, Texas; if he does go, it may be for personal rather than professional purposes.
Whatever the case, the injury situation at receiver could create some interesting looks for the Patriots offense against the Texans. Running back Kevin Faulk could see time at wide receiver, and the Pats will surely use some two-tight end sets.
Meanwhile, Graham is trying to rebound from a rough night last Sunday when he had a pair of crucial drops in the Pats win over Dallas, drops that could have turned a relatively tight game into a far more comfortable one for the Pats.
According to Felger, Graham appeared to short-arm the ball in both cases as he sensed impending contact. Graham said it was a simple matter of concentration.
"I had some easy balls thrown my way, ones I should have caught," said the 2002 first-round pick. "Its a concentration thing. The one thing I have to do is not try to run before I catch the ball.
"I should have had both of them. I just need to put that behind me. I know what I did wrong. I know against [Houston] I have to step up and make big plays. Were losing some receivers to injury, and I know Tom [Brady] is going to be looking to throw the ball my way. I have to step up."
The Dallas performance was discouraging because Graham was coming off what looked like a breakout, two-game stretch. In consecutive games against Cleveland and Denver, Graham caught 11 passes for 149 yards and a score.
