What is Fantasy Football

In its simplest form, the idea of fantasy sports is no different than any other game or contest that involves testing your knowledge against a group of friends. Fantasy sports was created over 20 years ago when a group of baseball fans took the bragging rights of — "I know more about the game than you do" — to a game level by creating rules and scoring systems to define what "best" was.

Fantasy football has become the most popular of all fantasy sports in recent years, mostly because it is one of the easier fantasy games to play. A group of friends — known as team "owners" — get together at the beginning of the football season and select a roster of NFL players with the idea of putting together the team that puts up the best statistics each week. Fantasy football contests can be found in many places on the web. They range from contests and leagues that are a total waste of time to some of the most challenging you can find.

According to Pro Football Weekly, the team will be hurt by the loss of veteran receiver Wayne Chrebet (post-concussion syndrome) for multiple reasons.

First, it takes an offensive leader off the field, something the team can ill afford.

Second, Chrebet was the only player other than Moss who was making plays on offense, and the team is now left with Curtis Conway, Kevin Swayne, Jonathan Carter and the recently signed Kevin Lockett to fill his shoes.

None of these players garners the respect on the field that Chrebet did, and that could make things tough for Moss and Pennington.

As for Chrebet, the injury isnt believed to be serious enough to be career-threatening, but the team wanted to shut him down for the season because he just didnt feel right.','11/22/2003','5:35:00 PM','Saturday',649 6219,10,12,'McCaffrey Could Return To Action Tomorrow...','According to Rocky Mountain News staff writer Lynn DeBruin, citing strategic reasons, head coach Mike Shanahan wouldnt divulge whether Ed McCaffrey would play tomorrow.

But it is believed McCaffrey practiced all week after missing the past four games because of a quadriceps tendon injury.

"Were as healthy as weve been all year and feel good about it," Shanahan said.

McCaffrey remains listed as questionable while others are listed as probable. Unless your options are extremely limited, Id advise holding off at least a week in order to get a better idea of what kind of role the veteran will play. ...

Jake Plummer said he was a little sore after last week game but that his foot is a non-issue anymore. He has taken all his normal reps and will start and play as usual tomorrow.
